Courtney Austin
Courtney Austin is a junior majoring in Human physiology at the University of Oregon in Eugene, OR. She has always had a dream of working in an outpatient physical therapy clinic as either a physical therapist or the assistant. Her determination, dedication, punctuality, and positive attitude will help her achieve her career goals in the near future. She is well rounded with superior knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Pixelmator, and can easily understand new technology based softwares. She is originally from central California, where she graduated as a partial International Baccalaureate student with honors and Renaissance each of the four years. She moved to Oregon with the desire to work in the sports industry, and is now blessed to call Eugene her home. She has done weekly volunteering at the PeaceHealth Riverbend hospital in Springfield, is a nanny on a regular basis, and a full time student. In addition to this, she is involved with the YoungLife Christian club on campus, and helps to organize events outside the meetings. Starting in the fall she will be a representative for Gloves off Sports, working with a team of students from UO to put on monthly networking events. Courtney’s competitive yet nurturing personality, is what will help her peruse her goals to have a career in the medical field.
What will Courtney do for Gloves Off Sports?
Courtney is in charge of most of the communication between the group that deals with e-mails, and will help the team bring the networking events together. Any students who are not currently on the team, but want to help participate in these events, will be given Courtney’s contact information to see what needs to be done for the upcoming event. Starting in the Fall, Eugene will be starting the first Sports Industry Event in the area to help the college community get involved with the sports world, both online and through networking conferences. Phil Knight with Nike supports the University of Oregon, and with this, UO is highly recognized as one of the top sports colleges in the world. The incredible athletic programs, and supportive community are a large factor in the success of the many different programs that are offered at the college. With the assistance in sports event planning, advertising, e-mail communication, and more, Courtney is welcomed as a new member of the Eugene, OR Gloves Off Sports team.
